Dear Guest,
I come to share with you
Flights of fancy
That came from far-
That came from near,
hopefully to spread some cheer.
Tales and Paintings
A poem or two
With warmth of spirit
And a smile too.

When Maya and Noga Were But Two
18.10.10 | מאת:MervynThey were, they were just magic things Those tiny hands I held in mine So warm, so gentle Precious things Their laughs ‘“ they were just silver bells Those eager voices They put a spell on me I’™m sure their laughter just filled the world with sound Two years of Innocence that walked and talked We laughed together It was divine Those precious, tiny hands in mine

When in the Brown Earth
18.10.10 | מאת:MervynWhen in the brown earth I do lie, Under a wet and wint’ry sky, Would that I a seed become Which in the rain, and summer sun, Shall become an evergreen tree And every leaf a memory An evergreen memory of times and tide Of smiles and tears and of some that sighed The sparkle in a mother’s eye Each memory in a leaf to lie I’ll remember the bat and ball I had The songs I sang both gay and sad A summer sky, sweet songs of love Trials won adventures done The very first time I saw the sea And the joy it was for me The thrill of it, the very first kiss The dance with her …

Waterfall
18.10.10 | מאת:MervynWild water raging, racing, tumbling, pouring ‘˜round black rocks shining, guiding, holding fast waters swirling laughing, gurgling down and racing to a supreme desire ‘“ then falling ‘¦ falling through air now laughing holding, breaking their fall to droplets tiny, shiny, sparkling shouting in delight and when they sight a rainbow, gleaming, enchanting boasting colours only rainbows know to do the waters delight in a roar as they crash in a rush that drowns all sounds except their own among gleaming rocks that steadfastly calm this ecstasy of delight and guide them to a deep, deep pool where the waters cease their madding drive and breathe deep to calm their raging soul. Then with a quiet that speaks of peace …

Virtuoso
18.10.10 | מאת:MervynUnexpected were his hands Not long- fingered, slender of bone and white But strong and broad as would a hammer wield Not a bow, and grace the slender neck of violin But then, with deftness born of dedication Mercurial, on fretless string and bow With intimacy of magician with his wand Unerringly, those hands began to play. Naturally, swiftly, the notes rippled like the brook Tumbling, skipping, laughing, crying’ pleas So nimble were those hands a-now To me they were as fairies in a dance. His magic touches me – my mind my heart As I and his music were enjoined as one And I not of earthy stuff was made, but of music too, Nor was I in the …

Valentine
18.10.10 | מאת:MervynBows the Lily to the rose will you join me in a dance You are so beautiful, your lips so red you must say you will. Why, good sir, I surely shall We’™ll make this day our own though it be our last’ – and the dance ours as long as memory lives And the Dragon-fly turned to the bee Will you share this dance with me? Why, of’ a certain I shall Your wings are so handsome set and glide you where you will Come then, be my Valentine this day No matter what folks may say Tomorrow is so far away!

Unawares
18.10.10 | מאת:MervynShe weans from her flute notes that fly and dance They speak of things one hardly dares to dream Beauty exquisite – But she plays on quite unaware of the rapture created by her nimble art A three-year-old skips down the street Her hair bobs and flows – a golden wind in her wake The earth behind her quakes in agitated joy – But she just skips – quite unaware of any uproar or of the rapture ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ created in a racing heart

Two flowers met on a hill in spring
18.10.10 | מאת:MervynTwo flowers met on a hill in spring Did we not meet last year for our brief a-fling? Red was I then, just as you are blue And we sang in the choir of so many a hue I remember you well – you are so bright And we danced in the wind in joyous delight I pray we will meet once again next year When with dew drop on petal we again reappear

Twin Towers
18.10.10 | מאת:MervynEvil scene Unbelievable dream Two towers Sky reaching high Crashed ‘“ each to a fiery grave A nation paled, unbelieving Half’ a world cried out with pain The other half’ smiled ‘“ hearts rejoiced Not only two towers fell ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ But man to deep depravity

Timeless Love
18.10.10 | מאת:MervynI fell in love with you then And you were sweet and fair The stars were dancing with us then And fragrance filled the air ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ I fell in love with you again The years have passed unseen You’ve never changed to me, I vow Though a silver strand I see anow And tides are but a dream ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ I’ve fallen in love with you again Though now we’ve grown old I hold your hand as I did then A tingle passes as did then And time the thief will never win ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ E’en lips have grown cold.

The Face
18.10.10 | מאת:MervynI saw a face ’twas like a winter storm Or a ship that’s wrecked at sea. Twisted, snarled, of uncertain shape I did,’ such a face did I see. Like a snowy bank all trampled down To mush and oozy slush With here and there and old tree-stump Gnarled and butting thro A smile is that, or a crevasse In the snowy, slushy bank Then the tree stump moved and the landscape moved, And my heart was moved to him.
